Child Psychosexual Stage

Freud believes that as a child we pass through three different Psychosexual stages, Oral, Anal, and Phallic. If the child faces issues within each phase issues can carry through into adult hood.

Oral stage: Children gain comfort from breast-feeding.
Problems include over dependancy and oral fixations such a drinking, smoking, and nail biting.

Anal stage: Potty training, this is when children gain control over their bodies.
Problems include becoming explusive, wasteful and destructive.

Phallic stage: This is the last stage, where children (aged three to six) become aware of their own bodies and the bodies of others around them. Children become aware of the physics differences between females and males.
Problems include fixation on the Phallic stage, recklessness, self assuredness, and narcism. Children can also gain penis envy.
